Supanova

Almost forgot again, was meant to post earlier about supanova.

I had not been to a supanova before and had only intended on going because Colin Morgan who plays Merlin in the Chanel ten TV show The Adventures of Merlin was going to be there. Though I had intended to get a photo and/or autograph from him the lines to do so put me off. The lines to just get a ticket to get the photo with him was incredibly long. So I passed on getting my photo or autograph and settled with just getting a glimpse of him from a far.

Instead of waiting around for any other celebrity, which there were a few, I decided to look around all the stands and that was when I found the dymocks stand. Needless to say I left with more books then I had intended to. Especially given that I had told myself I wasn't going to buy any at all haha. While waiting to get my books signed (the authors of the books I had bought were there so I figured I may as get them signed while I was there) I read through the program and found a pair of seminars that would be useful.

The first of the seminars, Steps to Publication, was given by authors Marianne De Pierres and Rowena Cory Daniells. This one was very useful. I learnt a great deal on the process of publication and the various methods of writing.

Another useful thing to come out of that seminar was I actually found out about the vision writers group discussion list and have since joined it. I thought that actually joining a writers group would actually provide the much needed motivation boost to get some writing done so that I can move forward with my writing.

The other seminar was An Introduction to Paranormal, given by Tracey O'Hara and Keri Arthur. This was also in interesting discussion. Interesting to learn how varied the definitions of what consitutes paranormal literature.

All in all was a good day. learnt a lot and got the motivation needed to get back into writing on a more regular basis.

until next time
